OFFER DESCRIPTION

Laboratory for Advanced Materials (LAM) (https://fns.uniba.sk/en/lam/) is seeking a motivated researcher to conduct state-of-the-art research in the fields of chemistry and materials science. We have currently following open position:

Synthesis of Inorganic Nanocrystals using Colloidal Syntheses. The work in this area will focus primarily on design and synthesis of quantum confined semiconductor and/or metal inorganic nanocrystals (quantum dots, quantum rods, etc.), with a practical potential for use in optoelectronics, energy conversion and storage. The nanocrystals will be prepared using modern methods of colloidal synthesis and characterized by TEM, optical spectroscopy and other advanced characterization tools. The project is part of an ongoing collaboration with several international institutions.

Where will you work? The research will be performed at an EU financed, newly established Laboratory for Advanced Materials (LAM), located in the recently constructed CU Science Park (https://cusp.uniba.sk), under the direction of Dr. Milan Sýkora (ERA Chair). As LAM research staff you will become a member of a multi-disciplinary research team of chemists, physicists and material scientists. You will have opportunity to apply and develop modern experimental methods for preparation and characterization of advanced materials and nanomaterials. You will have opportunity to collaborate with other research teams from Comenius University, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Slovak Technical University, as well as our collaborators from other countries of EU and USA.

 

Compensation. Attractive salary at the EU level, depending on experience and performance. Exceptional candidates may be considered for prestigious Saspro2 (https://saspro2.sav.sk/indexEn.html), or Marie-Curie Fellowships.

Skills/Qualifications

Qualification requirements for interested candidates:

  • Recently completed PhD in Chemistry or related field
  • Prior experience with colloidal synthesis of quantum confined inorganic nanocrystals
  • Experience with modern methods of chemical synthesis, including Schlenk techniques
  • Experience in using electron absorption, emission spectroscopies, TEM and other techniques used in characterizing properties of inorganic nanocrystalline materials
  • Professional knowledge of written and spoken English language
  • Strong publication record in the area of quantum confined nanocrystals
