The research group led by Dr. Marina Lusic studies Nuclear architecture and chromatin organization (epigenetics) in viral infection, with a goal to unravel the molecular basis of HIV-1 integration and latency and exploit these insights to develop novel therapeutic strategies. The candidate will work with experimental models of ex vivo virus infections in primary T cells. The project's aim is to dissect the mechanisms of metabolism-induced epigenetic responses to HIV-1 infection and latency establishment, and to improve the rational design of metabolism/epigenetics-based interventions. In particular, the candidate will assess the cross-talk between the intermediary metabolites and chromatin landscape, including histone modifications and chromatin accessibility in response to productive and latent HIV-1 infection and test compounds that activate pathogen transcription to induce reactivation from the viral latent state. We use state of the art cell biology, genomics and microscopy approaches available in biosafety level 3 laboratories to investigate the molecular basis of HIV-1 integration and latency.
Please send your application including a letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, copies of your certificates and transcripts, as well as addresses of the three referees until 01.05.2021 by email to firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com
